RIP my amazing little African hedgehog.

He was a rescue and already at least 5 years old and he was just starting to become more tame. I worked quite a lot with him to increase his reaction to humans. He started being more sluggish recently and a couple of times I thought he was dying. I guess he just was too old, he hadn't been cared for that well at his previous home and I only had him for maybe 5 months.

Either way I have a nice 40g breeder that I just cleaned out

I have a pet expo coming up and a reptile and amphibian expo coming up, so I would appreciate some ideas on a new pet to fill the void. Let me tell you what I like/don't like.

Nocturnal works well with my schedule (like the hedgehog)
I don't mind if it is an exotic mammal, reptile, amphibian, whatever. But something to handle would be more interesting.
No snakes
No insects
I like the challenge of working to tame something, but I don't want something untameable.

Taking the above into consideration I would love to hear some ideas?

how about a uromastyx? not nocturnal, but they are very personable once "tamed"

I've always wanted a hedgehog , sorry for your loss

You could get a milk snake I have one, they're really cool. :D

40g breeder is the minimum for an adult bearded dragon, If you get them out regularly and take care of them its okay. adult beardies aren't particularly active. AS long as they can thermoregulate it is all good.

Also I already have a bearded dragon :)

nice suggestions though, I do like Uromastyx's but not sure I want to get any more heat lamps
