alright, i just got a 40gal. tank with just about nowhere to put it, and yes, i realize that its a small tank.

i started by just going to home depot for materials,

I bought four 8 foot 2X4s,

one 1 pound box of 3in. drywall screws,

and a big sheet of plywood(sorry, i didnt measure it.)

i started building it by making the frame for the top using the way that nate77 did his stand, i cut out two 37in. pieces of 2X4, four 13in. pieces and used 16 screws

and did the same thing again,

then, i put the top piece over the plywood, traced it,cut the plywood, and screwed the piece of plywood onto the top frame,

next, i cut out six 33in. 2X4s and screwed them on to the top piece using C clamps,

and finally, i used the C clamps to put on the bottom frame,

sorry i didnt take many pics, i was more interested in building the tank stand then taking pics of it, i know this isnt a very exciting post but the reason i posted it is because i was wondering if you guys thought it would hold up 370 pounds? also, i might think about putting plywood over it to make it look better, but havent decided if i want to or not. i ended up only using 3 of the 4 8 foot pieces of 2X4s. and the entire stand costed $32.

sorry about that, for some reason it posted my thread twice and the other one put down the entire thing but this one left out what i wrote after the last pic, problem solved, i edited it.

if you do cover it get like 1/8" cherry or walnut. i think those are the best cover woods.

cool thanks, i also might want to cut out some big rectangular holes in the plywood in the front and stick in some doors and shelves.

oh if you're doing that, get 1/4 to 1/2 inch cause the 1/8 won't screw into very well. and can't hold up a door.
