My advise is to build some stand pipes to make sure it wont matter if the overflow holds water perfectly or not. As long as the rest of the tank is good I could personally not care about the overflow leaking a little.

I have some standpipes as well -- they're just a few inches below the surface of the overflow

I think most of us here have experienced alot of problems either moving, sealing, something with tanks. I think its just part of it now. The bigger the tanks, the bigger the problems get.

The tank is very nice, but if I were you I would shim that thing and get it level, atleast more than what it is now, save yourself some headaches later down the road.

What you said seems to be true. It's shimmed quite a bit already and seems to be quite level now. We'll know when I have the pumps going and the water should be at about the level of the trim.

I can't make up my mind on the stocking. I'm going to transfer my stock from my 180g for now, and then shut that tank down. I really want a Mbu puffer, but I'm sure there would be issues combining my current stock with one, and I'm rather attached to some of the fish. Same goes for an asian arowana

Make sure to include the sump price also as mine was included with the price of the tank. I will then compare it too mine that was built on site. Give you an idea on how much you saved.

I ended up backing out on the Mbu, again. I had a feeling it would be a long time before my 450 was set up and functional. I didn't want to keep the little guy in a 20 gal.

I will end up doing some cost analysis after I set it up. I think by the time everything is said and done, and I have it set up the way I want it will be around 2k. I got A LOT of stuff with the tank. Probably 10lbs of NLS, a big thing of charcoal, 30lbs of ceramic media, about 2500W in heaters, 4 seio powerheads, 2 pumps which I'll sell (bought a laguna max flo), 120ish gallon sump, glass tops, programmable power bars, a box of pvc fittings, two 4' three bulb t5 lighting units, a box of medications, and probably a bunch of other stuff I'm missing too. My car was 100% full to almost eye level with just the "extras", with no passenger LOL

Another set back, the holes where the returns come out of the overflow have a super tiny leak. I figure I may as well get this fixed now even though it would probably be ok. 1-2 drips every 10 seconds or so. Smothered the return holes in silicone on the interior and exterior side of the hole... looks like poop but whatever gets the job done will make me happy at this point.

Apparently I'm really bad at this haha. Oh well, I'm learning!

Hopefully you guys can help with this one. I have two return holes in the sides of my overflow box below the surface. They are 1" each. My pump return is 1.5". I currently have the 1.5" feed into a tee that reduces each side to 1" with threaded bushings. I screwed one of the bushings directly onto one of the bulkhead/male pvc threads and it works fine. The other side of the tee needs to connect to the other hole on the other side of the overflow box. I got a piece of 1" hose and tried to use hose to pvc adapters. My choice for using hose was because there is a fixed area between the bulkhead thread and the tee thread and it's tough to fit things in there. I managed to connect everything but I have a leak where the coupling goes. See the picture for a better explanation. The hose is very very rigid and it was a real pain in the arse to get it on there. Since the hose was slightly shorter than the area it needed to connect the fittings aren't threaded all the way to make up for some space.

Does anyone have a better suggestion for doing this so it doesn't slowly leak from the coupling? Attached is a picture to help visualize for you guys.

Good luck, I blew out an 80 tall once at the seem because of old silicon. I ended up taking the whole tank apart and resiliconing.

Here's a picture of it with arrows pointing to the leak. I'm open to suggestions on how to remedy these leaks if anyone has some ideas.
