450 gallon Heating options?

Well, you live in CA so technically you don't need massive heater power to heat up your tank. Your room temp almost good enough for any fishes even in winter time, I bet your temp in your house around 75F unless you open all your doors at night time and absolutely no need to use heater in summer time which coming up very soon .

Yea but the other tank is steadily 82*
Cost effective dosnt mater. My house has solar panels. Electric bill is never more than $10 or so. So I'm just going to go with some eheim jager heaters. There is a 3 pack on amazon for like $80. That should do it from what I'm hearing

Well the eheim jagers would have not been here for a couple weeks even with expedited shipping they would have came in about a week. I went instead with two finnex 500w aquarium heaters. They both have temperature control knobs already hooked up to the wiring. Hope these work instead.

Well the eheim jagers would have not been here for a couple weeks even with expedited shipping they would have came in about a week. I went instead with two finnex 500w aquarium heaters. They both have temperature control knobs already hooked up to the wiring. Hope these work instead.

"Temp control knobs" are nothing more than a regular heater. It still has a thermostat that is prone to failure. Get a separate controller for the heaters. You'll never match the heaters to exact temp. Only one will be one most of the time.

No, you don't need an additional controller for that unit, but adding an optional controller is an extra safeguard

I'd rather get two. That way if one fails I have somewhat of an assurance. I just got two 500w heaters. In the future I'll order another (if they are good) in case one blows out or something.
