450 Gallon plywood build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for all the advice. I'll try and clear a few things up for everyone. The water level will be 35" high (just to the top of the glass the extra 5 inches is just to make it easier to install the glass) the glass was rated for a 180 gallon tall so the extra 3" of water I do not believe will be cause for worry. As for the garage I did not even think about the problem of freezing I feel kinda stupid lol. But I have a solution I have a work shop that I will put it in and that is insulated so I will be changing my mind for the stocking any ideas?

I think the last guy that said that is still mopping the water off his floor.

Okay, after thinking about what all you have said instead of doing it my way and not listening to the people who actually know, I am going to build it with the glass but test fill it out side and if the glass does not hold up big deal my grass gets watered, and I can buy the proper glass. Thanks for all the advice.

the glass will most likely hold on the initial fill up its after its been full for awhile maybe a day, week, month its anybodys guess but its your gamble. if your dead set at that depth and that glass you could put a thick border on the bottom to whatever hieght you need to get the glass to the desired saftey factor. prob not the best looking way but maybe an option
