450 gallon tank on 2nd floor ????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ummm well water is about 8.5 lbs per g....x450 = around 3,800 lbs... id say no my friend... its like parking a car upstairs

I have a degree in drafting but its just an associates.. Id still say no.. not to mention the terrible mess it would cause god forbid it leaked. I had a 55 g only fail upstairs cost between 5-8 grand to fix because insurance only covered part of it. Yea I agree we need an achitect!

it depends on how your house is made
very true, what size the floor joists are, what the spacing is, and also is it in a place that you would be able to add some structural bracing??? if its on the second floor and you can add a couple vertical braces, just remmember that ur gonna have to transfer the load from second floor to first, then first to the basement, also depends on which direction the floor joists run in relation to which way the tank sits on them

I'm having almost the same doubt! I'm trying to discover if I can put a 125g on an apartment (2nd floor)!
