ok so i have made up my mind and am going to make a 450G tank. any one with some advice on adhesive and support? i know that its all going to way a tone so whats the best way to go about this?
really? i was thinking of making it out of angle iron with cross members from corner to corner cross the top bottom and diagonals. and making the frame out of the angle iron ad well. will this support the weight?
lol yea thats what my wife was just freaking out about. but i think if i could get the weight distributed across a large enough area that it would be ok. i live on the second floor so it does pose a slight problem but across the right cross members?
yea its going to be a lot of weight so getting it over the crossmember/supports would be crucial...I have no experience in this though but I'm sure there are others on here that can answer that as well as threads I remember seeing in the past about it, theres actually another thread right now ...as for the building the acrylic tank part read up on the how to build ur own acrylic tank pinned on here
ever see a demolition video of an explosion? that's what gonna happen if you put a 4000+ lb tank on the 2nd floor, even with a good amount of weight distribution i wouldn't do it
my 2nd floor sank with a 75g on it, it was placed flat against a supporting wall sitting on 4 i-beams which is stronger than joists in regular houses, so your 450 will fall through im guessing by the time it reaches halfway full
