help me understand the sump though, the water levels are throwing me off. looks like you have submerged media before your wetdry section with the bioballs?

I think that is the mechanical filtration part.

Nice sump, looks kool.

Good job! Very nice clean filteration sump design.

Phull tank pic please of tank and filteration combined. Thanks for sharing!

Hi alcohologist,

The first 2 chambers on both sides of the sump are filled with 15 ltrs of matrix which is a bio media but does offer some mech as well on top of that I have 3 pieces of filter wool and 1 piece of matting this is my main mech filtration these 2 chambers are my wet part of the filter.

The next 2 chambers are filled with bio balls again with 2 layers of filter wool and matting water is passed into this section via drip trays, these chambers are my dry part of the filter, I chose to go this way so as to keep the water level low in this section so as if there is ever a power outage whilst not at home the tank will not overflow the sump.

I hope this helps :grinno:

Hi all,

I have tried to get some full tank shots but I am afraid they are not so good as I really don't have the room to do so as the tank is located in the garage. Anyways here they are along with some pics of the residents.:popcorn::popcorn:

I purchased the tank, sump and stand second hand a while back, The stand was a 50 x 50 boxed steel stand all I have done was lined it with Pine. I couldn't imagine this tank being in the house with the amount of water the Bass splash out each feeding time :ROFL:
