Have you ever try to place the woods around the overflow black box? It will soften the look of the overflow box . It will create that box with a similar look of a tree or a tree with roots( use dark woods weight down the lighter woods). Your tank will have a focus point and have large spaces from left and right for your arowana swim and turn around. Just my thought, it may or may not work for your tank.
 
Tank looks great! Glad you ditched the rockwork...just looked like little kids toys. Much cleaner look now.
Add a few endilicheri and an aro and call it good.

Why are u confused? I do think, they are Geophagus altifrons. Probably they not not yet feel so well to show full colour. (Only 4 souls in a big tank - no other living around - they must think there is somethimg wrong!)
But they got the typical dots an the fins, and at least one fish on the photo shows this specific black spot on the side.
 
YOu wont really need bottom feeders with geos either. They sift the sand and do the clean up for you. YOu just gotta keep up on water changes. NOw all you need is an asian aro in there.
