i got 288 myself. If you follow PEMDAS, multiplication and division are on the same level so you go from left to right in the problem.

I agree. I didn't remember pemdas, but I do remember that the parenthesis go first.

^ what? u went to school in america? that's not what we were taught

never heard of PEMDAS, but how i learned it, 2 is the answer

you do the () first, then multiply, then do the division

This is called Standard order of Operations.

Here is the Deal, there are 3 or 4 accepted problems solving forms in math, but on this particular problem you will get a different answer depending on what form you use.

Basically its a mathematical Joke.

Your answer will either be 2 or 288 depending on what you use and which form is the most correct to use.

i still say 2 is the most correct answer

48 ÷ 2 (9+3)=
48 ÷ 2 (12)=
48 ÷ 2 (12)= Wouldn't the number 12 stay in parentheses? Forcing you to do 12 x 2?
48 ÷ 24=

2

its been a while...lol

yea, that's what i was thinking but didn't know how to say it, you have to get rid of the ( ) first
