I love turning old nasty CL tanks into mint setups. My son and I are rebuilding this tank to match a 600 build I recently posted.

I'll try to edit post #1 with a pic of the current progress often

The tank: 48" x 48" x 24" (3/4" acrylic)
The stand: 48.5" x 48.5" x 42" (2" steel)
Filtration: Ultima II 1000 / Reeflo Dart and K1 reactor.

To give you an idea of where this is headed: this is the before/after of the 600 I recently posted. I intend to match this setup with the look and feel of the previous build.

My House!
Wow, great effort! That tank in post #2 doesn't even look like the same tank in the "after" shots! Can't wait to see the new one finished and set up.

How long (roughly/on average) does it take to complete a project like these? :)

two coats Killz primer and two coats Marquee Polar White.

While I had easy access I also decided to get the drip system off of the floor and mount proper RO lines on the wall. Bulk Reef Supply has clips for RO lines that are too clean to pass up.

Thanks Ebbi :)

I do this with my son so I milk the time spent, honestly. They usually take me around two months or more depending on the budget.

This one will go quick though, I already have all of the major components. It's just elbow grease and make it clean clean clean

It's going to take a minute to get all this reef/calcium buildup cleaned up. Vinegar is my hero. Looks like minimal scratches (less the bottom panel).

Picked up some 1/4" cell cast to make a background. Huge pet peeve of mine when people use clear acrylic to make overflow towers so we need to fix this..

IMG_4324.JPG

Had the panels cut so if I decided not to use the back panel, the acrylic would be flush mounted with the existing tower.

Still need to finish cleaning the acrylic but the rough-in fitment, so far, fits like a glove..
