texas and gt get that big over YEARS
i would deffinetly upgrade if they were to get too big. im not irisponsible =)

I know, they're still consider large and not medium:D

GTs might grow more slowly than others but not Texas.

A GT would never outgrow a tank of those dimensions, and a Texas probably wouldn't either. I consider them medium sized cichlids.

Maybe, but under his definition of "medium" would you want two adult texas (texans?) living in a 4'x17x17 tank?

Its really up to you, its probably not big enough to have a community of small-medium cichlids (firemouth, convict salvini GT etc) so maybe just go for a single big bad male texas.

You're right. I didn't read the part where he wrote 2 medium cichlids. I would not want two adult Texas in a tank that size.

Personally I think a pair of Nics and a female Sal , plus some nice colorfull Dither fish would make a real nice tank for a 4' footprint. Anything bigger than 8-10 inches is really pushing it in a 4 footer.
