sorry, I made a typo. Nutrafin Max predator sticks (sold at petsmart). My NGT dat loves them too, as do my fronts. Sticks are bigger than hikaris, but also make a bigger mess if not swallowed.

Very interesting. I need to look for these. Actually, I have some friends that work at Petsmart corporate - I'm asking them for samples!!! haha.

not bad, but 8"-10" after a year seems way, way, way, to small...my 7month old silver is 21" and change...

my silver has grown from 7 inches to 11 in 4 months and i feed freeze dried krill, beef hearts, silversides, arowana pellets imported from asia and cichlid pellets. . . i'm having trouble comprehending 8 to 24 inches in 4 months.

I'm tellin' ya... gutloaded superworms and rainbow trout.

I will try and get a pic of his true length. He is not quite 24"... I'm guessing 22". Your aro should be growing more than an inch a month.

No, that is not true. Average growth for a silver aro that has been sensibly fed is 1-1.5" per month. Just because you choose to grossly overfeed yours to get near three inches per month does not mean that silvers "should" grow that fast.

Unfortunately because of your feeding, you aro is quickly nearing the point of needing a new tank. If you keep up the amount your feeding, it is likely you aros growth rate will not slow down at 24" which is the norm for silvers. Your likely to have a 30" silver crammed in that tank of your's in just a few more months:eek:

16 /4 = 4 4/4=1 inch a week ....

I dunno about 4 months but they do grow very fast and depending on how u feed them. I have a friend who grew his Aro from 4" up to 30" in just under 2 years. I think he grew his silver aro to 2 ft in just a year. He would purposely overfeed him because he didn't like the look of it when it was skinny. I remember he would feed feeders and prawns in the early stages and the Aro would take in at least 10-12 feeders in one serving. Also it reached up to 2ft in a 135gallon tank and he then upgraded to a 235gallon. The Aro only made it to 30" before it jumped out to it's final destination...His Silver Aro was one of the biggest Aro's I've seen in a home aquarium and in person.
