Mine is about 7" or so now and he is still like that. If you approach to quick he will rearrange the tank and hit the glass so hard you think its going to break. He wont eat if Im looking at him, Getting better used to not eat if I was in the room. Their eyesight is incredible. I rarely turn his light on at all anymore, he hates it and just hides in the corner with it on, He get a few hours of natural light Im sure thats plenty. He interacts with the dog and cat, but freaks if people come near.

Mine darts towards the glass going towards the side of the tank because my parrot cage is right next to it lol he charges at the African greys but he's shy as hell when I approach the tank and when I turn the aquarium lights on...but I do feed it everyday
does anyone know if rhoms or any piranha can recognize faces or people? he seems to be okay with me but scared sh*tless of my daughter..unless she is teasing my fish by pounding the glass when im not around......
I don't feel so bad anymore. I thought mine was only one that shy. It's been 6 months and still the same hiding in one corner of the tank.
Mine can tell me from my friends. he'll eat with them in front of the tank but not me. i have to walk to the otherside of the room. i think its cause he sees me as a tank disturbance( water changes, rearanging, etc...).
