5*3*2 - My Beut

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ahh thanks guys, Neo means alot that you like it.
I wanted a Monster tank but planted, so have been trying out plants for ages and now have the right mix.
My FH Loves the planting and swims in/out of it all day and loves resting in the Bigggg Swathes of Hygrophilia.

I like how the Hyacinth works in here, as its robust enough to withstand a bashing from anything in there and grows very quickly to give alot of cover for a tiny expense.

Yep thats they Dwarf vaiety of the Egyptian papyras Grass.
I added some lovely Chocolate/red colored stem plants, can't remember the name but have the most delicate blood red flowers like Fuschias.

Lighting,

Mostly sunlight as it sits in full sun position all day from dawn/dusk.
I was not going to pay the ridicoulus prices for halides. so after a bit of hunting found some Halide Stage Lighting units for £5 each on ebay and have hooked those up. Trickiest part id getting the right fuse in the plug, so far they are working with 3amp fuses in them. anything more and they were blowing.

They give so much light and are 150watts each and i have 2 of them setup so far. these i use in the evenings. with strong cathode/Led lighting.

i want to change a few bits and will be removing the 3fooot granite/slate monoliths and using 4 foot peices of swamp bogwood, as found a source locally that is at a resonable price, so that i can have ferns and bog plants growing out of the water.

Interesting combination of fish :)

I like it a lot.

Thanks,
The Beauty of it is, that if anything starts to rumble, i can move them into another large tank or one of my barrels.

all i can see is plants and plants
you seriously are a patient fellow
awesome setup, something i will never be able to do

thanks guys, have always loved planted tanks and also large fish, so thought i would mix the two and some dither fish for them.

don't wish to appear thick-the dimensions are 5'x3'x2' right?
where'd you get it from/made?

dunno where it was made got it off ebay for £150 with the stand filters 150 kilos gravel, 2 tonne slate, 4*2*2 and some other bits.

i think he paid around 3-4K when he had it made over 6 years ago.
he had housed snake neck turtles and rainbow crabs in it.
