Rats aren't to bad. As an electrician in chicago I find myself in tunnels with rats from time to time but they are smart creatures and will generally avoid you, unlike a roach which will just crawl across your face if given the chance. I've heard too many stories in which a happy drunk was minding his business and accidentally gets bitten by a rattler, this fits my m.o. to well.

Guess it's not true that sewer rats will attack and eat a man alive.
