I dont know how to say this without sounding like an *** hole but here go's................... I understand you guys know about big catfish, thats a given. BUT.......... I'm still not convinced you know what the hell your doing :screwy: Who in their right mind would go out and buy 5 potential monsters and not ALREADY have everything in order  I understand that problems arise, it happens all the time BUT you need to have a backup plan. What happens when you get those big old ponds running and you have another filter crash ??? What the hell are you gonna do with 6 three foot catfish ???? I've been doing this for a long time and been consistantly keeping things going knowing my limitations. Catfish are just a hobby.........Not my life. Whats gonna happen if something significant in your lives change ??? Then what ??? Getting rid of one large fish is hard enough let alone a dozen  I think you guys may be getting in over your heads. Slow down a bit and plan for the future. If not..... You guys are on a course for disaster , I dont care how big of a pond you build.......All those fish will NOT live happily together.

AGAIN.....Sorry to flame anyone its not my intention.....Its just I've been there before...... and learned the hard way.

Well I'm glad you have spoken your mind, however understand that some of us have been keeping fish ALONG time.. and already have several backup plans in place for the larger cats. As far as over my head... never!!!! MHHHHHHAAAAAAAA ... Well maybe an act of god would put me in over my head but nothing else.

Thats the wonderfull thing about holding your cards close... no one really knows what your holding ;)

Enjoy the hobby and so will I ... mmmmm k pumpkin!!! ... (sorry couldn't help with the Hitch comment :D)

Geez you sound like ***hole lol jk had to do it, but really dont judge someone without knowing the whole story. This guy might have been keepinig fish longer then you and know allot more about fish keeping then you. You never know! Obviously he knows what hes doing and im sure he has backup plans. So here pop one of these bad boys and have a drink next time before you make a post :chillpill:

It's all part of posting on Forums, everyone is entitled to their opinions and I'm happy to listen to theirs. Thanks for the backup but I don't want to prevent anyone from saying what is on their minds.

Unless it's Stupid.. then keep it to yourself LOL ;)

Bgonz has the best of intentions, which isn't a bad thing at all :D

So if by needing a "back up" your trying to imply that people with big tanks should keep an extra 300gal laying around just in case i feel youre off base but if youre saying people with monster fish should be willing and able to house and care for their fish i agree completely.I dont know Necro or basslover personally but having read tons of stuff from both of them im sure both have plenty of ability to keep as many monsters as they see fit, this is only my opinion based on my 20 yrs of fishkeepind and my employment in the fish industry

From the advice I hear basslover giving, I have no doubts he will be providing these monster cats good homes. I would not have a spare 300 gallon tank lying around if my filters broke....

Basslover34 Thanks for not taking my comments the wrong way, I meant NO-Disrepsect. With all I know you may have forgotten more about big cats than I ever knew. I guess I just wish someone told me this 25 years ago when I started keeping the big guys as I would have done things differently. Your cats look great and best of luck with them all.

niblit.............. I do not think we all need an xtra 300 gallon laying around :D That was certainly not the point. My point was Basslover has had some tank/filter issues lately and maybe should keep an extra 50 gallon rubbermaid around JUST IN CASE ;). I was actually just trying to get across that more often than not people commit to these big fish and arent ready for what they really become. I predicted I would come off like an *** and for that I am sorry. I too am sure Basslover and Necro can house these fish.....my only point is when do you draw the line...........

I'm sure he will too but so far he has been juggling them around quite a bit, and seemed to be caught offguard. I was just trying to offer some UN ASKED FOR advice. I'm sure he and his fish will be fine. I talk from experience........ Someday when I'm bored I'll tell you guys about some of my mistakes. As far as Necro goes.................:screwy: Is all I can say :D

SORRY for the post guys......Next time I'll delete it when I think I should :D

lol, i hear what your saying man it is a big commitment buyin these fish... but from the sounds of it this guy is giving these fish better treatment then 99% of the people out there. Thanks for clearing things up :)

Thanks for the well wishes, I understand what your trying to say, although... your prob trying to target two of the most passionate Catfish freaks you'd ever want to meet LOL... there really isn't anything either of us wouldn't do for our cats (I'm sure Necro would agree with me on this)

I was thinking that my plan was ... 1) RTC 2) RTC X TSN's 3) TSN's ect... :D There are plenty of reasons to keep less, but if you can keep more...and you have the space for them... do it... better I take them and provide them with the space and care that they need than some 12yr kid that happened along to the LFS and buys it for his "Huge" 20 gallon tank with no means to provide the larger tank... the proper food and or care for them.

We are all in this hobby for a reason, the love of our fish... most of us (not all) would do what ever is within our means to provide the best care possible.

Line?... what Line?????? Seriously the line is part of an ultimate plan and was established LONG ago.... I can't speak for necro on that one LOL.... I think he's flying by the seat of his pants but will make sure to provide the quality care needed for all of his cats....

The juggling was nessasary and not intended to happen (as ***** often does)
However I've never been caught "off guard" and have had the ability to ensure that all my fish... not just my Big cats... which is whom I'm truly passionate for obviously, have been taken care of and I've not lost a single one which is more than most here could claim. I currently house nearly 100 fish here and havn't had a single loss which wasn't by design. Including the Fying loach which jumped from the tank... dried for at least an hour on the floor and was revived and is happily sucking algea as I type this... This is not to say that I won't lose fish... just from the 6 Big Cats... I'm hopefull that all 6 make it to monster status... and will do what ever it take to help that along... but honestly someone's prob not going to make it... they are able to down fish roughly the same size as they are after all...
