LOL not that it matters but he said 5 digits, 5 grand would be 4 digits.

I know that.. I'm saying it really is not worth 5 grand, let alone 10 or 20 or whatever. They are not really all that rare in aquaculture. Gold Lepisosteus are actually much more uncommon and have not been fixed genetically in aquaculture. White Atractosteus are pretty common occurrences and show up predictably.

Lovely fish but really not worth what they are selling for.

To each their own though.. Your money and more power to you if this is your thing.

definitely agree. personally like the "normal" pattern of the strains we see in the wild...of course i wouldn't hesitate keeping one if we caught it (cheaper too!) :) --

I wonder why we dont see them more often if they are more common? Is it cuz they automatically go overseas?

many of the leucistic gators are bred in thailand, probably some others in other countries in SE Asia. in mexico the leucistic t-gars are for sale if people want to purchase them from the US, but they are definitely pricey as well (H20 custom aquatics has brought a few in before).--

I wonder if Goldens will ever be breed by people? Thus far they are all wild caught correct?
