I'm sure you could breed them in a 10 gal no problem. It's just that you probably need a heck of a lot of them to actually feed anything. No problem getting them to drop 50 fry, but then you have to grow them someplace for 6 months untill they are more than just a snack.

I think what Mystix means is that those small tanks cost a lot for what you get. The price of a 5 gal tank, add just a few more $$ and get a 20gal thats much more versatile and better value for money. For any newbie just starting out, avoid the 5 gal tank and just get a 20gal. Not much more cost, and you can actually keep some real fish in a 20gal ;)

But if you already have a small tank, then no problem with setting it up with some small fish and sitting it on the end of the bookcase etc.

no i have 3 tanks a 55 gal a saltwater 12 gal and a 3 gal for feeders
my friend wanted some ideas on what to put in his 5 gal tank
he also has a 30 gal
and i am far from a newb

and i am far from a newb

Didn't mean to imply you were ;)

It was just an observation on new fishkeepers and pet shops that sell them pathetic little overpriced tanks. When they could spend $25 more and get a tank 4 times the size. :screwy:

Small tanks have their place, and thats for keeping small fish :D

Anyone that sells a 5 gal and a couple of goldfish to a newbie needs a visit from the MFK police :naughty:

Cheers
