5 gallon tank ideas

For a dirt tank, get some cheap potting soil that has no fertilizers in it. Lay down maybe 1/2 inch layer or less in your tank then cap it with 1/2 inch or more of sand. After that your basically good to go.

If you go the shrimp route don't mix ghost shrimps with cherries. Ghost shrimps will tear them up.

I agree bettas are pretty active fish. They need warm temps though to thrive. Like 82F and up. I recommend bettas in at least 10 gallon tanks. They still need their swimming room too.

another idea is a dwarf crayfish,kind of predatory....throw in feeders he will catch them eventually
 
what about adding sand and 1 pair of shelldwellers
 
A lunch box and thats only if you are on a diet beacause you can't fit much in it LOL... maybe a few guppies...
 
5g tank would be good for a sump for a 10g tank. lol
