Just do a cool lil aquascape. Black substrate. Some java moss, a floating plant, a small piece of cholla wood. Throw in some neocaridina shrimp (cherry shrimp, or mixed). Or a snail. ONE mystery OR a couple racers (much smaller and nerite eggs won't hatch in freshwater).
Please don't put a fish in that. And unfortunately, you're not gonna make money breeding anything in that. Shrimp are cool. Snails are fun if you can appreciate their simplicity, and less sensitive than shrimp. Plant it right...and you will have a nice lil desktop planted/invert tank with a lot of color.
That's basically all I would do with a 5 gal tall.
