So my schedule has drastically changed and I don't always have an hour to do a full water change. So I was wondering, if I took 5 minutes daily and remove and replaced 5 gallons daily. Would this be equivalent to on weekly 35 gallon water change?

Depends on the size of your tank, and if you're utilizing plants?

If you have a moderately stocked 30 gallon tank, then this would be fine
....but if you have a heavily stocked 100gal tank, this would be grossly inadequate

its a 90g bar bottom setup with a sunsun hw-304b and an AC110. That I currently using to grow up my jardini arowana till i put it in a 265 that i have to setup

I would recommend adding plants, such as pothos, and doing as much a water change as you can possibly have time for.....but, the more the better. Also could help if you cut back on the feeding regiment

What is your nitrate creep over the course of a week? That's primarily what dictates your water change frequency and volume. Maintaining consistant GH and KH is important too.

Yes water parameters are a must and have to watch out for. But there are other toxins out there and inhibiting growth enzymes so a water change is best to do frequently for longevity and overall health for the fish. This is over looked a lot thought I'd share this.

I breed fish and just for fun I did an experiment. Two tanks same fry batch. I did daily water changes in one tank and weekly water changes in another tank. The daily water change fry grew 2-3 times faster. I only did this for a month. I had too many fry so needed two tanks for faster development.

Ace, I hear you and agree that much more frequent water changes should be done when fry are involved.

wouldn't small daily water changes replicate in a way a drip system?

Yes, but 5gal per day from a 90gal equates to just a little over 30% per week.....just not enough.

Even with a drip system, you want about 100% weekly
