A thought: I think there are most beautiful at their best vs. most beautiful average. For instance I've heard Rosmariae are quite drab most of the time but when breeding are amazing. Ditto Xingu 3 --I'm sure we've all seen the pic I attached of jet black ones with red belly and crescent moon gold eyes...but again they are drab most of the time. By contrast red Tapajos are almost always gorgeous and so too most marms and lents--rarely a bad one over 12" in good condition. Not sure about Tigrina but all pics of them are stunning. Finally there are some odd balls--i saw a pic of a percna that was mottled and pink finned all over..

On the Rio Araguaia, I wish...
Nice! Are these available in the aquarium hobby?
I tried for literal years to source one of these and no one could seem to find them, to date I've not seen any in captivity and that is one of only about 4 pictures of them online.

1) Crenicichla Rosemariae
2) Crenicichla Atabapo sp
3) Crenicichla Zebrina
4) Crenicichla Tigrina
5) Crenicichla Multispinosa

Goodness! This pike is a must have. Is it banned or available?

Where is the home range for these/which river systems? I've been out of the Crenicichla game for a while but might plan a fishing trip to target them if I can't get one for the aquarium

EDIT: Nevermind looks like Rio Suia Micu near Matto Grosso, Brazil
