are geo's generally a shy fish? when i go near the tank they go and hide and when i turn the lights on they freak out. maybe they need more time to get comfortable.

Geos are fairly shy, but they'll get more comfortable. Just don't tiptoe around their tank. Make them get used to you (even if it takes a while).

Much better to feed very small amounts several times a day. Geos spend all day grazing in nature. The best thing would be to have an autofeeder drop small amounts of tiny pellets several times a day.

Shy at first, but very personable when they get to know you. Mine love to swim to me all excited.

im going to drop some krill in tonight and see if they like it. they are still hiding in the corner and are lacking color but could be stress from shipping.

Krill might be a bit too large for most sifters (unless you're talking about the chopped kind). They are adapted for fairly small food particles. You might try mysis shrimp as an alternative as it's much smaller.

Long term, though, you'll do better with a small sinking premium pellet.

Best frozen foods in my experience are Brine & Mysis Shrimp, Blackworm and Bloodworm. They will eat Krill, though mine were never fans of it, possibly due to the size as cchhcc has said.

I feed frozen food about twice a week, NLS staple otherwise. I quite often crush up 1mm pellets to feed as a powder to get them turning over the sand. They'll also become more active and personable once your sand has "aged" a little. Mine were quite shy after moving them to their new setup, but they're finally starting to actively sift throughout the day like they used to now that the sand isn't "fresh".

they are getting better. color still weak. i have somewhat of a current and crushed may not work out well. i could just break them up a little smaller. they love to go after the blackworms when i feed the rays in the morning. i have a bunch of frozen brine i could use up a few times a week.

i was hoping they would do a lot of mid water swimming but seems they like the bottom better.

They look good! Geos are usually not shy - mine are super active and swim nonstop. Give them some time and I'm sure they'll come around.

Might want to start feeding them pellets soon though - better for them and easier for you. I feed mine pellets first, then frozen or live food a couple of hours later as treats.

Nice Geo's. Like Pete said, with time, they will become active. Mine are nuts.

If you crush the pellets and then put the powder in a cup of tank water and pour it in, the food will sink a lot faster. You can also shut the filters off at feeding time so you don't lose it all to the filters. That way the geos can eat from the sand like Ryan said. With the geos sifting the sand, they will get rid of any gases that may be trapped underneath. They do a really good job of keeping the sand clean too.

Good luck with them. There gonna be beauties.
