How often were you feeding? And how often are feeding now? I also bought some from rapps mine are also eating hikari carni stick crumbles, bloodworms, brine shrimp, and red worms. I hope to have the same growth rate as you. I have been feeding 3 times a day I will be moving them to a 40 gallon breeder next week they are in a 10 gallon now.

To start , my orinos are in a 75 gallon. A 10 may be tight.

I feed them as much as they can eat , and throw food at them every 2 hours all day , every day. I still do that.

What ever food they don't eat , my bottomless pit giraffe nose catfish vacumes every crumb.

I do water changes with gravel vacs 30 % every 3 - 4 days.

My temp is 86.2 as well.

Now they get full jumbo hikari sticks , but my goal is to get them on bio gold or NLS exclusively.

I worked very hard for the growth rate I induced.

Yeah I figured that but I wanted to quarentee them first I will move them to the 40 gallon this week, then the 75 and off to the 125 around 4.5 to 5inch so we will see. But I definately need a clean up crew I am doing 40% water changes every 3 days or so and filter sponge cleansings every week. I also have my temp at 85. That is simply awesome growth rate though congrats:headbang2

I would not even touch the sponge filter.

They harbor good bacteria and when you clean it that can disrupt the bacterial colony. A sponge filter can aid in filtration but their true value is a good bacterial colony production. I only take mine out when it needs to be replaced. That can be as long as a year or so.

If you can crack 86 on the temp it keeps ich away and gets rid of it if you get it.
