Nice pick up. I'd do earthworms or native fillets if you can fish in a clean local pond. Want to send some of those babies my way?
Here's some pics. They have settled in nicely. I threw a piece of shrimp in their and they just went bonkers over it.
Tony, What size tank? I had 20 1"ers that I grew out to 4" in 6 months. I fed mine Krill with an occasional meal of smelt with the skin and back bone removed, and worm like strips of cod. The occasional meal of earth worms doesn't hurt either.

There in a 55 gallon, a couple of friends are coming to pick up a few in a couple of days, I probaly just keep 10
Tony, I started in a 55 and the tank in the pic is a 240. I've got several 240's now with contant water change.
Did you check the ph of the water in the bags they came in? Its important. Also, do you plan to do live feedings?

With proper care RED will over grow your 55gallon in a couple of month. They can grow fast. You will need bigger then 55gallon soon.
If you keep them well fed
water change weekly
well maintain
etc...RED can grow up to 7-8" in the first year, and 1" every 3 month or so.
