50/50 Cali King.

What all have you tried thus far?

Only FT pinky mice.
Tried different temps of mouse from cold. To quite warm.
Popped the brain to no avail.

I really don't want to go live. All my other snakes, lizards and birds are on frozen.
I guess it's just being stubborn, first time in all my time keeping herps I have had a stubborn eater!

Thaw it out & warm it up, but don't do it directly in the hot water; put it a bag or something then put it that in the water. That will help to preserve the "mouse" smell. It might also help to rub it on one of your lizards or other snakes after that in order to give it a little bit of extra scent since those snakes usually eat snakes & lizards in the wild.

I've kind of been wanting a snake, but I've always heard that they are hard to get on F/T mice. Besides this Ca. King, have you ever had issues trying to get your other Snakes on F/T mice?

None of the boas, pythons, & pit vipers I've worked with have given me any major issues when it comes to getting them to take F/T. Some colubrids can be troublesome if their natural diet is something other than mice, but most will switch with a little extra effort on your part.

You'd be surprised at the wonders of live pinkies in battling young stubborn feeders.

Sure, you should avoid it if possible but I'd rather be directly responsible for the death of a pinkie mouse over my snake any day.

Got and had Snakes of various sizes, never had any issues with feeding FT.
TBH, I'm not too concerned about the Cali King yet, it's still settling and being stubborn.
I'll give it a while and then resort to lives if I HAVE to.

Thanks for your comments guys!

I am sure you well already know, but these guys have a great feeding response so hopefully you've got nothing to worry about here.

This snake looks great! I am actually entertaining the thought of getting one again after seeing your pictures.

If the snake hasn't eaten yet, and you haven't tried it yet, you could add some 100% natural no MSG chicken broth to your thawing/warming container to scent the mouse.

I got my daughter a cali king earlier this year... she loves it. I'm sure this little guy will go over well with yours.
