Oh me too! One of my favourites. Great for portraits and well just about everything haha

50mm is kind of wide for portraiter don't you think? 85-105mm for myself,

people get creeped out when you get as close as i'd need for a 50mm to work properly....

This assignment isn't necessarily for amateurs by any means.
Obviously we all have our favourite lenses for specific things. (And yes you clearly cannot shoot wildlife very well with this lens) There are no set rules for this. You don't HAVE to only shoot with this lens for 50 days, but the pictures you put into it have to be...earlier today I did family portraits and I used my telephoto and my wide angle. The point of the assignment is to make yourself do creative things with the 50mm lens.

alright but in your OP, you stated only 50 for 50 days, a bit confused there.

The assignment is titled "50 days of 50mm" because the photos I put in it are taken with a 50mm...I could hypothetically do another assignment at the same time saying "8 days of f8.0" and then I would do 8 pics at f8 I can shoot with whatever I want when I want but to put the pics into this series they have to fall within the guide lines...just like an assignment you would get at school.

while i'm on the subject, when you say 50mm are you strickly mentioning focal length are are you aware of the fact that a large majority of the SLR users here who shoot digital are shooting crop bodies (1.5x) (cheaper) rendering the modern full frame film format 50mm longer than 50mm, and rather 35mm would be closer to the focal length need for the majority of people to really be shooting at what Film or Full frame digital users are useing?

Yes and I do as well have a crop body I shoot with the Canon 20D.
And yes I know that means I am technically shooting with a 75mm lens, but in the spirit of the assignment I am not taking it into account. Just the use of one lens for the same amount of days and the focal length..not what it happens to actually add up to be depending on camera body.

i will try and shoot some with the 50 and add them to this post.

might be a few days though

This is going to be a cool thread!!! Do you do portraits for money??? Weddings and whatnot??
