50 Gallon (US) stocking help!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
An acara should do great. I'd get it as a baby so the Sev doesn't see it as a threat. Also make sure you get a true blue acara not a GT. Orange spot acaras (krobia) are sweet too.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! And I heard of severums reaching 12+ inches, however the information I read said generally they stay anywhere from 8-10 inches. He's well over two years now so I dont think he will grow into the potential monster he could be. But if issues occur I have a great LFS I can get to rehome him if worse comes to worse.

Yes, I always purchase fish big enough to not been seen as food, but small enough that the others will not feel threatend. And I already had made that mistake :P I went to a different pet shop, and saw some really wierd looking GTs, they looked so much like Acaras I took one home just to see (They were only about 2-3 inches long so i knew my severum would have no issue with the the new arrivial if it did turn out to be a GT. And sure enough it was! So i returned it and got 5 anglecious Botia :) Intresting little fish, but my tank looks so empty so i thought one more medium sized similarily tempered addition would do well/look great but I thought i'd get the communitys responce (I only have about 3 years of fish keeping experiance so im still learning :) )

- Side note; I've named my Golden Severum Odin, after the highest ranking God of Viking Mythology.
