500 gal hydroponic system [load warning]

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I keep the water temp at 75-77

in the winter (this last season) up to now, I was loosing 50~70 gals of water weekly.

I can do a panoramic shot but it looks like it was taken with a wide angle lens.

looks great and i see no reasons you couldnt add fish it all looks pretty well kept and clean what were you thinking about stocking it with

I have 3 South American puffers coming this Sunday :) They are going into the 210 long bottom section.
Already in that section are: 2 common plecos, 3 rubber nose plecos, 3 Otts, and 2 Simese alge eaters. Invert: 300+ snails and 200+ Red Cherry Shrimp. (you just don't see them cause of the tank size)

Only 2 sections along the top are empty.

Thanks imagined it would be lots evaporation.

if this summer is going to be a hot one, then I might as well just keep the hose in there turned on ;)

you've given yourself choices compared to, say, two 250 gallon tanks: nothing is wasted and you can still segregate a large number of fish/inverts and not compromise your tanks.

are you in the Vancouver area, B.C.??
and may I add you as a contact?
thanks, dwight

Thanks for the Kudos. I live in Ontario, kind of far from you.

As you can see it was designed as a single pump, single filter, multi tank unit. There are several down sides and the major one is that fish (especially river biotopes) tend to jump tanks. :screwy:

The other is the introduction of a sick fish. If an ill fish is introduced it could wipe out the entire thing.

A few simple mods that are in the books will fix that though :)

You may feel free to add me as a contact :)

EDIT ... if you PM me ... make sure I can PM back.

Thanks

Cool pic of about 50+ red cherry shrimp feeding on an algae chip.

The ones with the white backs are female.

That's a cool picture. I wish I could have gotten a pic of the piece of blanched zucchini that was covered in RCS in my RCS and snail breeding tank!

thanks guys .. if you have any questions feel free to ask.
