500 Gallon Native Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Watch the crawdads. I had a few in my tank and they loved shrimp pellets that I was feeding them and then one day didn't really see them eat and soon later late one night they got a hold of my brown trout and ate it. I was pissed trout caught by net at about 5 inches is super hard. I wont keep any again soon unless I have a puffer to eat them.

The sunfish in the 500 are for food, so if they do manage to tag one, thats ok. I have some rather large craws and Im sure they can bring down even the biggest sunfish in there which is only about 5"

went to the lake yesterday (thursday) and caught this beautiful 14''-16'' northern pike and immediately thought of this tank... one of them would be awesome in there, wish i would have though of taking a pic.

That would be nice to have :)
But I decided to get rid of all my larger fish and stick with sunfish, darters, crappie, madtoms, etc. I dont have room to install that big filter I got till I move in my house next year. I can always get these fish back.

In my 220 I have rainbow darters, chubs, steelcolor shiner, redhorse, chubs, few other types of darters.
In the 265 I have warmouth, rockbass, bullhead, crappie, longear and pumpkinseeds.
In the 500 I have my last big fish, a 16" smallie that I just couldnt part with yet, longers, rockbass, warmouth, pumpkinseeds and crawdads. I ordered some more wood so when it gets here hopefully next week I will take a video of the new 500 setup. I will post 2 videos of the 220 and 265 tonight or tomorrow.
