500 Gallon Peacock Bass Aquarium

Any updates with the little guys, how are they doing?

The 5 pack is doing well, completely recovered and rapidly growing. I've since reduced to every other day WC's. One has started to refuse bloodworms today, so we'll see how that goes.

The 500 is heated and cycling, just waiting on the glass lids to arrive.

Pictures as soon as I can find it in my wife's suitcase!

Nice cant wait, how big would you say they are now?

I saw you said you were open to suggestions... Only things I would have done was made the background black and move that piece of wood coming in from the top. maybe find a way to stick it out of the bottom left corner? Tanks looking great though! I'm totally jealous. You could have a yellow background and purple gravel and I'd still want it.

Going on a week long trip tomorrow, paranoid to have someone else watch the 10 pack, but he knows what he's doing so I hope everything goes smoothly. This week has been mostly working through some design ideas, when I get back it will be the final push to get their new home setup!

One question has arisen: what is the simplest way to mount driftwood upside down to look like roots from above? There will be a glass top, so I can't mount it a platform and lay it across the span, not crazy about having to drill into the top to secure it. I guess I could use silicone? Would appreciate a brilliant idea!

You should look into dried grapevine. Its lighter in color, and floats in water. Should be easier to mount on top.

Also, in order for salt to be an effective tool in killing ich, dosage needs to be around 1-1.5 cups per 10 gallons of water. Reference: http://www.aquaworldaquarium.com/Articles/TonyGriffitts/Adding_Salt_to_a_Freshwater_Aquarium.htm
The only problem is only CA/African rift lake cichlids, livebearers, and Koi can tolerate that much.
