$500 LFS credit - what to buy?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that is cool but in Lansing, Michigan downstate from me they have contests right now like this and what not cause it is there 29th anniversary..there called Pruess Pets. but anyways try to get 200G but if not the 180G is best if you cannot get bigger..or if you wanted get a 75G and a 40 breeder if you like reptiles or whatever but congratz

why 210 when u can go 300?!?!?!

Just use it for normal spending (food, filter media, conditionner, neons bulbs...), I'm sure there wont be any left money at the end of the year. Buy the 180 when you have a place to put it in. I would tell my wife that I can afford the tank since I saved 500 bucks on normal spending during the year.

yeah dont waste it on 40breeders when i do believe petco is doing the dollar a gallon sale right now.
500 should be about 80% of a 220 glass.
or close to 5000 feeders :)

You guys crack me up. I guessed the replies would go something like this:

Me: I have $500, should I put it down on a 180?
MFK1: YES
MFK2: HELL YES
MFK3: Screw 180, go for 200
MFK4: Why 200 when you can do 400?
MFK5: 10k gallon pond or you are wasting your money!

I think I'm going to go with the 180 unless I can find an even larger footprint that I like. Now I'm stuck with what do I want to stock it with?

A few species I've never had a large enough tank for are an army of clown loaches, ghost knives, Fahaka puffer, and gulper cats. I think I would be better off using a smaller tank for a species only gulper tank, Fahaka's are amazing but I don't want my first tank to be a single fish tank.

Does anyone here have a huge community tank? I'm talking like a school of 100 or so tetras or other little guys? I'd love to fill a 180 with exodon's but that would definitely break the bank.

gulper catfish aka ogre catfish get a foot so how small a tank would you be talking here lol..but do a black ghost knife, loaches, a cool pleco (maybe), some other fish like catfish and cichlids imo maybe a variant oscar are community groups! so much lol:nilly::headbang2

the reason i suggest the 220 over the 180 is the tank looks more impressive with the added height. Also i believe the cost difference isnt much,

You could also try and trade it on craigslist for a complete set up:headbang2

O-N-E- -E-I-G-H-T-Y- -A-L-L- -T-H-E- -W-A-Y

Do the biggest setup you can pay for with the $500. This means tank stand filters lighting etc. That way just spend a few bucks on fish and your golden
