523 gallon plywood build (pic heavy)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the compliments guys! Africans are by far my favorite fish, just added some moe rare ones today, couldn't be happier. For the evaporation I added a little less than half a gallon today so evaporation is minimul. But gotta remember the environment has to do a lot with evaporation. Right now it's warm and humid here which helps.

Just read this entire thread! Awesome build, kinda renewed my "guts" to try this.:D

I have some syn. petricola in growout :) Also looking for a few more larger haps, probably buccochromis nototaenia and champsochromis caeruleus haven't decided yet if I want to add more or not.

since your tank been up and running good while , how much did your elecrtic bill go up with the tank running ,?? or didnt really see much different ?

35 bucks a month not too too bad , i have about same size tank you do , i did my measument and its 525 gallon , i kinda rounded down to 500 since its never tip top full , my over flow pipes , look cool , clear pipe and can see water and air goes threw the tank , once i get done ill post pic and video ,,, least i think its cool looking , but i turn 1 over flow into full siphone , cause it was kinda loud , looks cool , but sounded like bath tube filling up ,lol alot better now , ,,, im looking into few things , underwater lights and im thinking going to get real plants and up my lights watts anyway thanks for the infor

i know i been asking question after question , thanks , but i have 1 more , how does feeding time go? you turn your pumps off ?? i just wondering , i see alot of food going into my overflows ? just wondering how your going , thanks again

I feed NLS 1mm cichled food exclusively soaked in a garlic/vitamin supplement that sinks immediately so literally no food ever makes it to the overflow, hell next to none made it to the ground either.
