My local fish store always has unusual things in stock.

Today I saw a 20 inch Jardini with a price tag of $525

Holy cow and seven horses! Is that legit or is the guy on crack?

They just sold an 8inch disk motoro stingray for $240
They keep sterlet sturgeons in stock, and just sold a few 8 inchers at a whopping $70 each.
They had 2.5 inch gold datnoids for $60

Are these prices anywhere near resonable for the east coast?
Or is the owner charging WAY to much for the hard to get stuff?
(BTW, no one, NO ONE within 100 miles keeps these type of things in stock but him.)

They are expensive in my opinion but its his store he can charge whatever he wants, to each his own. Do any other local stores have what he has in stock?

Very true...I would just wait for him to lower it to a more reasonable price if your thinking about getting it. He'll know soon enough that hes asking too much when no one buys it for months :)

It all depends on the area your in and since no one else in your area has them he can charge whatever he wants

Yeah, its a private business, and I support his right to ask whatever he wants.
However, for my personal choice to buy from him, I like to know if his asking price is "reasonable" compared to similar situations/locations.

Thanks so much for the replies folks.

Any examples of what these fish are going for in your areas?

in washington i wanted to buy a motoro.. guess the price. it was $700. they are becoming rare. as for the 20" jardini, prices all really vary on where you live. but nowhere should it ever get to $525

There was a LFS about 40 mi. from me. I believe they were asking a similar price for one about the same size!!! The kicker was they called it a "Austrailian" arrowana. Also remember a conversation I had with an employee about FW rays. Tried to convince me to buy his $250 RO water filter because delicate rays can't survive in hard Indiana water. B-O-L-O-G-N-A!

Jardini are often rare at that size from private sellers are but as usual lfs usually over price their fish. If you show no interest and ask for a discount they would lower it but if they see you're interested they won't lower it
