$525 jardini ?!?!?!

My local fish store always has unusual things in stock.

Today I saw a 20 inch Jardini with a price tag of $525

Holy cow and seven horses! Is that legit or is the guy on crack?

They just sold an 8inch disk motoro stingray for $240
They keep sterlet sturgeons in stock, and just sold a few 8 inchers at a whopping $70 each.
They had 2.5 inch gold datnoids for $60

Are these prices anywhere near resonable for the east coast?
Or is the owner charging WAY to much for the hard to get stuff?
(BTW, no one, NO ONE within 100 miles keeps these type of things in stock but him.)

My LFS sold a 24" jardini for $75.
Rays are illegal here so I dont know the price.
$60 for a 2.5" datnoid? I can get two 3" dats for that price.

that price is common, in NY they sell 18"-20" for $500, and 8" for $150, but nobody will buy them.

prices are based on supply and demand .....I guess someone's buying

Not always. One store here has had a twenty inch jardini that they have been hoping to get someone to piss away five hundred bucks for almost two years now(it actually used to be a thousand untill they lowered the price) and they have a four hundred dollar indo dat in the same tank, and get this, the jar has one eye!....Another point,I think we all know that a store owner can charge whatever he thinks he can get but at the same time we hobbyists have our opinions and we can say whatever we want about those prices. If a place has good prices, commend them,if the prices are ridiculous, speak on it....That's what's great about forums such as this, possibly helping would be buyers from being ripped off.

I live in england and have 1 arowana, 1 sterlet and 2 datnoides. My aro came at £120 which is about 200 at your price, My sterlet was 6" and was £40 and my dats were £40 and are 3". they sell 20" jardini arowana's in my area for £5000+, which is mainly the red tail golden and super reds. SILLY MONEY when considering you can take a fish home and it drop dead....

I jus sold my red spotted jardini for $250. he was about 14 iches.
