I just got a nice shelve unit from the other room that looks like a possibly nice tank stand.

I need ideas on how to weight test it before I fill tanks on it. I also need ideas on what tank/tanks to put on it.

Check this link for tank size reference. I was going to post it but you can just check it out.

Any feed back is very much appreciated!

What I do is just climb on, I use my sizable carcas as a test.

What size tank are you putting on it? Looks as though you will have to put a top on it with a cross brace or 2.

Hard to tell from pictures.

What kind of wood?

As for tank size, what fish do you want to keep ? How much do you want to spend ? .

Idk what kind of wood it is. Best guess is maple. I can find that out when I get home and ask my dad.

The wood is not compressed and seem very sturdy. I stood on it with no problems.

I am leaning to wards two tens and a 2.5 between them.
I will put a board over the top.

Tanks I have to choose from include. a 2.5 (12inch), 5.5 (17inch), 3 tens(20 inch) and 20H(24 inch).

Length is 53 inches so with a top board two tens and the 2.5 would fit well. What do you guys think?

Would getting a 33, 40, 45 longs or a 55 or 60. all being 48 inches long work good?

Make sure the board you put over is supported accross the middle as well as at the edges. If it's solid wood then it should take tank weight. As for tanks to go on it, it all comes down to what fish you want on there for which tanks would be best.
