corallife 48 inch aqualight with 65w actninic/2-65w 10,000k daylight. i dont really fully understand lighting when it comes with reef tanks to be honest but from what i have found its my understanding that this would be enough?

should i buy both the same size or is it over kill?

From the sounds of it, your light fixture is a power compact. Sounds like it should be good enough to do softies (except for zoos, i think) and some LPS, but no SPS.

You picked a fine substrate, and it should be enough.

I would go with two koralia 3s

Well, what are you wanting to do? Do you want the ability to be able to keep all types of corals, or demanding corals sans sps, etc...

And they are all going to have ballast.

I feel like 2 koralia 3s are way to much floor for something this size... you want around 550-600gph flow two koralia 3s set on minimum (assuming controlled) flow 660ish, and on high 1800gph which is 20x volume flow, you only want 10-15x max in my experience. I feel like two nanos, or at most two koralia 2s whould be enough. One 2 set on max or one 3 set at medium would also work, I just preffer using 2 as I find it gets a better flow.

If those lights are T5s then they would probably be ok for any corals but i feel like this is a PC fixture? In which case you would need more power for hight light corals.

Sand is good, skimmer is good size wise.

I like over head, so if I go to a larger tank, I can just use what I have...but not all people are that way.

and a 65 watt bulb on a 48 inch fixture is a PC bulb, from what I recall.

Koralia 3 will be fine

I think this is for a sump so you'll have to make a sump unless you want a hob skimmer in that case pm me I found one that would be perfect for u
