55 gal sump design

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Love the design.... too bad i already built my sump. Anyways, I'm having issue with the return pump empting my sump. My tank is a 250 gallon and has two drilled hole 1.75" with 1" bulkhead. I have 2 90 degree elbow, one on each bulkhead. My return pump is a 1000 GPH. Was curious if anyone had suggestions on how I could increase flow to my sump. I noticed you using a Mag18... what size pipe are you using? Thanks for any response.

Sounds like your getting a terribly slow drain.. my aga overflows kept up with my mag18.. i donno what to say aside from possibly just bleed off some water from your return back into the sump.. you should use a gate valve for this as they allow for much better control.

or find a different less restrictive design for your intakes..

Regardless.. you should have a gate valve t'd off the return pump to bleed water instead of "throttling" back the pump, which can create heat and excessive wear on the pump internally.

where did you get the set up to hold the filter socks? does it come with the connections for the tubing?
