i went ot the pet store the other day and say 4 gar of some sort about 3 in. long and 1/2 in. round plus they were trying ot eat the mollies on the other side would one of them fit in a 55 with 3 discus?

what kind... not for life for sure but prolly for a while

Gars
Atractosteus spatula- alligator gar 6-10 '
Atractosteus tropicus- tropical gar 4'
Atractosteus tristoechus- cuban gar 6'
Lepisosteus osseus- longnose gar 6'
Lepisosteus platostomus- shortnose gar 2 1/2'-
Lepisosteus oculatus- spotted gar 4'
Lepisosteus platyrhincus- florida gar 4'
hybrid gars
Lepisosteus platostomus x Atractosteus spatula- Crocodile gar type I
Lepisosteus platyrhincus or oculatus x Atractosteus spatula-Crocidile gar type 2
The above are the only true gar species there are no true gars naturaly occuring
outside North America excpt tropical and cuban gars
And no none of the above can obiviously be kept in a 55 gallon tank for life-Anne

it was a shortnose gar i remember now. im 14 right now would he be able to live in the 55 till im sixteen and able to go out and by a 150?

no rayboy - a longnose is a fish that grow to 6 foot. In 2 years it wuld have reached at LEAST 2 foot.

ANd your tank is what, a foot wide? In 2 years time that fish woud need more than a 150 too, which is like 24" wide max. It would need a pond.
