im glad its working for you for now. but is it possible the tanks a little overstocked. i was always under the impresstion that one jd regardless of sex for a 55, but i also read you have a Salvini, 3 silver dollars, and a polypterus bichir. Depending how often you do water changes, the water parm might be off.

There is no way that the tank is overstocked.

We do water changes weekly. More often twice a week.

I hav juvi jack dempsey's and a juvie green terror i want 2 put them in a 55 gallon tank would like 2 know is that cool? will they get along? ang can I keep them in that tank together long? please some1 let me kno

imo you shouldnt add anything more you are pretty heavly stocked as it and in bio-load just keep up with the water changes for now and see how it all works out

and depending on the jack sexes they can get into a HUGE fight once a two pair off they will beat down and kill the other jack's in the tank and the green terror i wouldnt really add but maybe another member on here has a diff opinion on that

I agree, it's their only somewhat comfort zone ... taking the hiding places away will cause so much more stress...

and just because we are capable of doing it, doesn't mean we should...

my africans used to hide when there was minimal items in the tank and now that they are in a hundred gallon tank with plebty of hiding places they are not skiddish at all...heck i can dangle my hands in the tank and all my guys come up and swim around my hands looking for a hand out
