55 gallon Jack Dempsey needs friend

I have a 4" Jack Dempsey and a pleco 3" and have bought him a new 55 gallon home. I would hate for them to be the only fish in new tank. I would like him to have one other fish to hang out with, and get along enough to grow old together. any suggestion?

He seems small now but him by himself is going to stretch the limit of that 55 more than you think, especially if he's male. If you're dead set on trying some other things my recommendations would be another JD, a fire mouth or a convict.

Try a convict, with plenty of hidey holes for when they decide not to be best friends lol
