I currently have a 29 gallon tank and am getting a 55 soon very soon. And i need help with the ideal fish for me. I would like a fish that gets farly big around 8-12" can eat live food no problem but will take pellets and flakes or whatnot. and are very preditory. Fairly active i would like them to swim about not like a fish that is lazy and just stays at the bottom and inhales food. IK this is a lot to ask for but just keep ideas flowin asap cause im to the point of making a stupid perchase. O yeah and would a needle nose be ok?

I agree ^

Nah, don't put an Oscar in there. There's just not enough room. How about a Cuban?
Oh, and if you meant feeders when you said "live food", don't do it without quarranting them and treating them for parasites. It's not good nutrition anyway.

to tell you the truth your best option is to get a larger tank
if you go up to a 125 or so it opens up a huge range of predatory fish for you to choose from

i agree with either a jd or gt, both very nice fish

keep em flowin

Well, for the criteria you listed, I would suggest an Oscar. But an O is better kept in a 75.

Yea instead of getting the 55, get a 75 and go for the O
