55 gallon planted tank lighting

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry if I am resurrecting a dead thread but--the "2 watts per gallon" rule is not a very good one, and definitely does not apply to LEDs. Your light is designed specifically for planted tanks. I don't think the light is the problem...

Hows the tank doing?

Coz i see a lot of people talk about your lighting, but not once ask about what ferts you use, how you dose, how you maintain your tanks etc... there could be so many reasons why it doesnt work out...

Maybe i missed it but if not, seems theres a lot of missing info

Hello; I will be back with a suggestion.
Hello; This is my 55 gallon. The light I use cost me about $22 on sale a couple years ago but can be had for around under $35 regular price. It is a LED shop light.
I already had a tank cover with two 18 inch fluorescent lights. I picked up the shop light on sale with he intention of using it in my basement. I stuck it on the 55 to see how the light looked. It is a good color ( Daylight to natural) and good coverage.

Note- to use such a light you will need some sort of cover between it and the water. I happened to have a cover so did not have to make one.

If this is of any interest to you let me know and I ill look up the specs on the light.
