I have a 55 gallon that used to hold a mated pair of Angelfish as the centerpiece fish :( My male Angelfish became ill and despite treatment did not make it. The female was very dominant (she took a hunk out of his fin about a year ago) and she is adult, the size of the palm of my hand, and I don't think she'd allow another Angelfish to be added (that's her in my avatar, that pic was taken months ago though).

I was wondering if there was another SA cichlid of similar size/temprement that i could add to the community. Of course reading around I get various reports, and i know all fish are different individually. I like firemouths and all info I have in books & online is totally different.

I have Bolivian rams, tetras, corys and a bn pleco in the tank as well as plants.

If I can't add anything else I'll be okay with her alone. Just wonderin'.

ETA- I just want a single fish, not a pair.

I have amazon swords, cryptocornes, and valinisteria (I totally mispelled those I know). It's hit or miss with the plants on whether the pleco will dig them up.

I do like the keyholes.

Scratch the severum idea then....unless you want to switch to some hardier plants.

No, plants are a big part of my tank. Unfortunately mr. ugly bristlenose does NOT understand that:irked:

I have a pair of cupidos with my planted angel tank, they don't bother the plants and since they stay on the bottom they help balance the tank

Keyholes are good, you might consider a festivum, too. I've had a festivum for almost a month now and it's impressed me with its character and responsiveness. I've found it to be similar to an angel fish in personality.

Thanks! Those are two good options- I like the festivums too. I've seen keyholes at my LFS before, not sure about festifums, but I'm sure they could order them.

I have Rams on the bottom (5) so I don't think that the Cupidos would work...the poor pandas would have nowhere to go (they barely are allowed a space as it is).
