55 gallon snail infestation HELP...

I just has a minor problem with snails... they got into my Filter and stopped piller from working ( the little white thing that spins round)... which somehow shut down the heater.... came home to see a few snails inside my filter and the temp around 76.... EK! good thing i came home tonight then the next day all my fish would have been dead from the cold temps and plants.

My Dwarf Puffer gets rid of snails >_<;;

I don't think they'll be good for that big of a tank though. Sorry I'm not really helpful :[

i have a tropical community in it right now...i have 4 small plecos 4 serpa tetras 3 albino corey cats 3 danios 2 clown loach 1 goldfish 1 rose barb 1 crowntail betta...im gonna leave the mts in there, lst night i seen a huge one waaay bigger than the rest...my uncle couldnt get rid of the snails and was insistant the snails were bad, i think thats what drove him into selling it...i plan to go to either discus or dwarf cichlids in due time...
