55 gallon stocking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Personally, if I had a 55, I'd be getting a couple of the smaller 6-7" Geophagus species like Pindare/Araguari/Tapajos, a pair of German Blue Rams, a solid school of 12-18 Tetra of some variety (I'd use Serpae or Bleeding Heart), and 3-6 Corydoras and 1-2 Bristlenose.

The 55 keep rolling on!! a guy 1 mile away from me is moving and wants to give me 2 55 setups for 80.00 dollars. sadly when i went over to check it out the fish are in need of rescue 12 in jag with hole in the head and a oscar shreeded for living with a jag in a 55!!! i took the oscar right away and will come back for the jag later.I really hate when i come across something like this.

Im sorry im beating this dead horse way past death, but what would you do with 2 more 55 gallon tanks cichlids, tropical, african, planted any pictures or ideas would be great, also any rare fish, cichlids would be nice also.

Nope, and looking at your current tank setup list I'm not suprised you give such bad advice.

Pair of Firemouths + 1 other fish that can handle themselves in that sized tank, maybe a Salvini, Blue Acara, or Severum. Perhaps even a JD but that's getting a little on the larger side of what you'd want in there.

umm you dont have to keep pairs they can all be the same sex genius.

Well planted Kribensis tank.....

.GT,JD
.FM,Con,GT or JD (not both)
.Pair Grammodes (my choice)

grammodes is nice, would last a long time due to there slow growing. My question on planted tanks is can you use reg light and what type of plants and gravel, soil do you need ive always wanted to try plants but seem to difficult.

I have the same question the problem I am having is not really what to stock with but how to sex them ! Like for instance yellow labs I want 4 females 1 male but there like impossible to sex young..... Idk how people do this
