I had to euthanize my carpintis due to swim bladder problems and when he was removed all hell broke loose in my tank. My jaguar and midevil (both at 7 inches) have been attacking each other for a few hours now and the Green Terror is just there lol. I bought them all as 1 inch fish not knowing much on cichlids. I think Im going to have to sell or give them away. Im thinking after I get rid of my Jag, midevil, and GT, I could do a natural looking tank with a pair of Sajicas and a \couple other small CA cichlids like salvini and fire mouth with lots of drift wood and caves. Could this work? I know when Sajicas spawn they can be a little aggressive but if guppies can survive with them Im sure a Firemouth a tricolor would be fine.

Yes i would get rid of all those fish..... the reason for so much fighting is all those fish are naturally very aggresive and teritorial... they dont have a large enough tank to live in let alone claim theri part of the tank.... if you want to keep them you need to upgrade to a 125 minimum..... if you get rid of them do a pair of sajica with some dithers...

All of your fish grow too big for a 55 gal tank, they're also some of the most aggressive cichlids you can get so I'm surprised the problems didn't start earlier.

Sajica will be fine with Salvini and Firemouth... if anything I'd be worried about the Salvini killing them, not the other way around. Good luck!

When I bought all those fish I didnt know much about cichlids, I just though that they looked cool back then. Im going to start looking for a good keeper or my LFS for store credit. Do you think they'd sell if I put them at $10 each or $20 for all 3? I'm not really looking to make money(that would be nice though), I just want to make sure they go to a good home.

You can keep the GT a bit longer if you like, but those other two will grow 10 inches in less than a year.I use to have a jaguar that was 3 in half inches, then it grew to close to 8 inches in no time.

Your doing a goodd thing for all those fish... but dont expect to get much out of it as long as they go to a good home...

dont encourage him to keep a gt that will get too big for his 55.....

It is funny how removing a fish from an established tank can change the balance. I think you have a good ideal for the replacements.

Some one made an offer for all 3 fish for $30.
But me and my parents were not on the same page as to what I was doing. My mom thought I was only selling one and when I said someone is buying all 3 she was said then no more 55 gallon and I can't buy more fish. Luckily my dad came in and he is a little more reasonable than my mom and he said I can keep the 55 and get some more fish after we move at the end of July. :D

The Jaguar went to a 180 with 2 females and the GT went to a 125 with 2 females. Im glad there going to a good home. I just need to find a good home for the Midevil now.

When I reset up the 55 with the pair of Sajicas a salvin(maybe) and a pair of FM, What would be some good colorful dither/target fish?
