55 gallon tank of S.A. Cichlids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Truth be told, I have a 29 gallon tank of breeding Mollies. I wanted a predator tank that I could feed the mollies to. I had heard that Cichlids were predatory, but after further research, I found most of them aren’t as carnivorous as I wanted, but they are a beautiful fish. Kinda fell in love with idea of a colorful community tank.

still open to all options, but I don’t want anything like an Oscar, too big for my liking. Maybe later on down the road in a 200 gallon or something.

You could try geophagous red head Tapajos or maybe try out some of the more "wild" colored angelfish like Rio Nanay or Rio manacuparu. Maybe a pair or two rio manacupuru angelfish and a large school of cardinal tetras. If you really want keyholes, you could do a pair of keyholes with a pair of angelfish and maybe a medium school of a bottom-dwelling tetra like black skirt or any others. Just make sure not to have too many fish that all swim in the same levels of the tank. Also, if you want to be SA nothing is more SA than plecos. You might be able to do a few of the smaller species, dont quote me on that someone more knowledgable on this can help. Plecs such as clown plecos, rubberlip, bristlenose, or if your willing to spend a fortune you could do a group of zebra plecos for $60 each.

If you are looking for personality and a good laugh I love Bolivian rams, they are more bark than bite but are always flaring up to my severum which is triple their size. They have great personality, are easy to breed, hardy, and their colors are underrated but they can be beautiful.

What!!! Zebras for $60??? I’d be all over that deal.

a 1-2 inch zebra here ranges from $150-$300

really? Try ebay sellers that have good reps. 150 - 300 cost more than my tank. I never thought a 3 inch fish could cost all that.

Okay then nevermind, your right they are that expensive, I think I got them confused with a different plec. But hey you can get a zebra pleco towel for 12.77 on ebay. Closest thing I got.

Hahahaha that might be what I have to settle for a towel with a zebra plec.

money day I’m going to have a dedicated tank to just zebras and try my hand at breeding them
