55 Gallon tank stand on the cheap!

nice! i helped my friend make a stand but it was not as grand as this

I think I got the basic design from a stand for a 180 gallon

Time is free and power tools are not.

i guess we have very different thoughts on that matter.

for me, time = money so the faster i can get the project completed (correctly) the better.

but then again, i already have all the power tools, so i guess that helps too. lol.

I made a stand for my 50 gal, the price for a new stand is more then the tank itself most of the time!

Especially if you get your tanks on craigslist.

One tip of advice is to use a gardening saw for pruning trees, they have larger and sharper teeth that eat through 2x4s like they are nothing.

after thinking about it, I will make one side larger to fit my 10g quarantine/hospital

I don't think this will upset the integrity of the stand. What do you think?

Ok got a little more done today. Started with the cabinet floor.

Made my lines

and now to cut

Notches for the up-rights

I just snaped the center pair out

and slip it in

I flipped it over onto an even surface and screwed the top frame down

then the brackets

now I rest
